Campfire Bread

A simple and delicious bread perfect for campfire cooking, twisted on sticks and baked over embers.

Ingredients

  • 200 g wheat flour
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 5 tbsp cooking oil
  • 150 ml water

Steps

    Preparation

    • Mix all the dry ingredients together.
    • Add the oil and water, mixing into a smooth, not too sticky dough.
    • For a double portion, use slightly less than double the oil to avoid a sticky dough.
    • Coat the dough with a little oil and place it in a bread bag or container.

    Cooking

    • Whittle some sticks and twist the dough around the sticks.
    • Bake over embers, rotating the sticks often to avoid charring.
