Takes 720 minutes | Serves 10 | Rating: 5 / 5
A simple ciabatta recipe that requires minimal effort. Just mix the ingredients, let the dough rise overnight, and bake for fresh, crusty ciabatta.
Ingredients
- 600 g all-purpose flour
- 500 ml water
- 0.5 tsp dry yeast
- 1 tsp salt
Steps
- Mix dry ingredients in a bowl. Add room-temperature water and combine until a sticky dough forms. Adjust with more water or flour if needed.
- Cover the bowl and let the dough rise at room temperature overnight (12 hours or more).
- Sprinkle plenty of flour on the work surface and scrape out the dough.
- Stretch the dough so that it becomes rectangular. Fold about 1/3 of the dough over towards the center, and do the same on the opposite side, so that the dough looks like a baguette. Turn the dough so the "seam" is down, and divide it into 8-10 roughly equal pieces.
- Dust your hands well with flour and place the ciabattas on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Let the ciabattas rise for at least 45 minutes, but preferably longer.
- Bake the ciabattas in the middle of the oven at 225 degrees Celsius (about 437 degrees Fahrenheit) for about 20 minutes, until they are golden and cooked through. Cool the ciabattas on a wire rack.
