How to make Homemade Yogurt

Homemade yogurt is easy to make and requires only milk, plain yogurt as a starter culture, and some time. Suitable for various dietary preferences with options for low-fat and creamline milk.

    Preparation

    • Rub an ice cube over the inside bottom of a heavy pot to prevent scorching, add milk and cream, if using, and heat to a bare simmer.
    • Remove pot from heat and let cool until milk is warm to the touch.
    • Transfer some warm milk to a small bowl, whisk in yogurt until smooth, then stir back into the pot.
    • Keep pot warm and let sit for 6 to 12 hours. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours afterward.
